5.2 and Q&A

Fr. Wahlmeier finishes walking us through the books of the New Testament and then answers some questions about The Chosen, the Assumption of Mary, and more. 

5.1 The New Testament

Fr. Wahlmeier walks us through the New Testament, providing a brief summary of each book.

Our Future Priests

Priests serve as beacons of hope and signs of God's presence in our lives during our happy moments as well as times of suffering. They accompany us with Christ's sacraments, baptizing us, giving us communion, hearing our confessions, and anointing us before death. Today Fr. Hall discusses the importance of priests and invites us to consider giving our financial support for seminarians through the Bishop's Appeal for Vocations.  

Non-Social Distancing

Fr. Hall invites us to reflect on a common theme is several of Jesus' parables: our choices affect our relation to others and to God. When we choose things or ourselves over others, we create a distance between us. Christ asks us through the Gospel, "What choices are you making which distance you from others and from God?" 

4. Q&A

In this Q&A session, Fr. Hall addresses a wide range of questions from the nature of the Trinity to Jesus' "brothers". He also shares his go-to Bible passage for moments of despair. 

4.2 Fully Human and Fully Divine

Fr. Hall talks about Jesus' saving mission as well as what we profess regarding his two natures. 

4.1 Jesus

In this opening part of class, Fr. Hall dives into the fascinating topic of Jesus. Taking an apologetic angle, Fr. Hall makes a case that Jesus really existed and that he claimed to be God. 

3. Q&A

Fr. Wahlmeier answers questions about where we see the Trinity in Scripture, using the Lord's Name in vain, the difference between Jews and Christians, and more. Plus, he puts on his nerd hat to dive into names and etymologies. 

3.2 Inspiration and Interpretation of Scripture

In this second part of the class, Fr. Wahlmeier breaks down what the Church believes about the inspiration and reliability of Scripture. He then provides some tools for interpreting passages: the literal sense, the allegorical sense, the moral sense, and the anagogical sense. 

3.1 Tour through the Old Testament

In this first part of the class, Fr. Wahlmeier takes us on a tour through the Old Testament. What can often appear as a confusing collection of obscure stories, genealogies, and laws is actually a beautiful story leading up to Jesus.
